The staff of the Bamako Convention
The Secretariat of the Bamako Convention operates within the strict framework of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention. In so doing, it provides parties in informations, guidelines and procesures.
Framework
The functions of the Secretariat of the Bamako Convention include the following among others:
- To arrange for, and service, meetings of the Conference of the Parties and Subsidiary bodies
- To prepare and transmit reports to Parties

Staff
The members of the Bureau shall commence their terms of office at the closure of the meeting at which they are elected and remain in office until the closure of the following ordinary meeting of the Conference of the Parties, for which they will serve as the Bureau, including for any intervening extraordinary meeting. Exceptionally, one or more of these officers may be re-elected for one further consecutive term.
